Scrapbooking from Scratch Sketch Challenge

This is the sketch for the October Sketch challenge at Scrapbooking from Scratch (http://scrapbookingfromscratch.blogspot.com.au/):

I had some fun with this one as this is a photo of my eldest son and baby daughter taken earlier this year.  I love the bright colours.  Hope you like it!

Scrapbooking from Scratch Colour Challenge

This months colour challenge at Scrapbooking from Scratch (http://scrapbookingfromscratch.blogspot.com.au/) is to use the following pallet:

I love the example Charm created but was a little worried as I am not really good at putting some colours together.  This is what I created:

Kraft it Up October Challenge

I have to say when I look at the Kraft It Up (http://kraftitup.blogspot.com.au/p/this-months-challenge.html) website to see what this month's challenge would be, I was rather excited.

I am not sure why but I really like this colour scheme. I knew I would have a good photo as both my boys love orange and wear it often.  In this photo DS1 is all dressed up in his school winter uniform and DS2 is photo bombing! I set to work to create something and this is what I came up with:

More pink!  Here is what I did:

My title 'A Daughter' is followed by 'is one of the most beautiful gifts this world had to give' which I did with my motex but because its on clear take its very hard to read with this photo.

123 October Challenge

The challenge for October at 123 (http://123-challenge-blog.blogspot.com.au/) is OCTOBER CHALLENGE...

I was very excited with this one.  Yellow is a fantastic colour.  It did inspire me and this is my layout:

I am having some issues with my camera (the boys have been playing with it!!!) so I can't see the photo until after its been taken.  So my photo isn't fantastic. I hope you like it!

Scrap the Boys October Challenge

The Scrap the Boys (http://scraptheboys.blogspot.com.au/) challenge this month is to create a layout using a traditional BOY colour combination

Life. Paper. Scrapbook. September Challenge

I found a new sketch challenge this month: Life. Paper. Scrapbook. (http://www.lifepaperscrapbook.com/2013/09/september-sketch-challenge-team-b.html).

I had a lot of fun with this one as I had two fabulous photos of my second boy with his trucks that I wanted to do something bright and playful with. I got to use some of the papers and embellishments that I wanted to use for this kind of layout, that have been sitting in my stash for ages.   I am very happy with how this turned out:

Scrapbooking from Scratch Quote Challenge

The quote challenge at Scrapbooking from Scratch (http://scrapbookingfromscratch.blogspot.com.au/) was use the quote "Life is Good" somewhere within your layout.  This is the example that Charm created:

I created the below layout from a photo on the day my second baby was born:

Scrapbooking from Scratch September Colour Challenge

This months colour challenge from Scrapbooking from Scratch (http://scrapbookingfromscratch.blogspot.com.au/) was to create a layout based on the this colour palate:
More pink!   I don't think I have used this much pink ever in one month!  And I have just looked at this layout and realised I didn't put a title on it.  But I am actually quite happy with it without one.  Hope you like it.
I have used texture paste with some paint thru it to make it blue.  I love my little girls big blue eyes and chubby cheeks!

Scrapbooking From Scratch September Sketch Challenge

Over at Scrapbooking from Scratch (http://scrapbookingfromscratch.blogspot.com.au/2013/09/the-sfs-challenges-can-now-be-found.html), Anita has put up the following sketch challenge:

I really like this sketch as it has a fair bit of clean space in it which is right up my alley.  I went with kraft with red, teal and yellow as the picture was fairly neutral so I could go with whatever took my fancy.  I am quite happy with this one:

I used Bazill card stock, My Mind's Eye papers, Dylusions Mists, Prima and American Thickers Alphas, Charm's Creations Heavenly Heart and Fabulous Flower, Purple Pumpkin tag and flower, Fiskars border punch,  A Flair for Buttons Flair Button, Flutterby Designs tab, WOW chipboard,  Twine, Staples

Scrap the Girls September Challenge

I did struggle with the Scrap the Girls (http://scrap-the-girls.blogspot.com.au/) challenge for this month.  It was to create a layout using orange, pink and green as the colour scheme!  More pink!  Anyway I had a go and I got to try out my new chevron mask with some texture paste too.

Kraft It Up September Challenge

Kraft It Up (http://kraftitup.blogspot.com.au/p/this-months-challenge.html had a sketch challenge this month as follows:

I had to take a bit of time to think this one over as its a very detailed sketch and I usually have quite a bit of clear space in my layouts.  This is how my take came out:

123 September Challenge

This month's challenge from 123 (http://123-challenge-blog.blogspot.com.au/) was:

This months challenge...

I have to say that pink is not my colour at all!!  The clothes my daughter are wearing in this pic were all gifts because I avoid pink! But I still managed to have enough stuff in my stash to put together a layout.  Its not as pink as some of the other entries, but its about as pink as I am going to get!

Show Us Your Stuff September Challenge

This month the challenge from Show Us Your Stuff (http://showusyourstuff.blogspot.com.au/) is to create a red and white layout.  I have to say the examples put up by the creative team are out of this world and one day I hope to be able to create things of that calibre.  In the mean time I am just enjoying joining in! Red is such a lovely colour and not one I use on a regular basis and one that is just fantastic in these monotone challenges.  Here is my layout:

I hope you like it! My little man is now a big 5.5 year old - how the time flies.  He is such a sweetheart and I am so proud of the little man he is turning into.....

White with One September Challenge

This months challenge from White with One (http://whitewith1.blogspot.com.au/) is white plus pistachio.  It was the perfect colour for this picture of my eldest son from several years ago.

Scrap the Boys September Challenge

Well I was lucky enough to have all the kids in bed relatively early last night so once again I started my month with the Scrap the Boys challenge (http://scraptheboys.blogspot.com.au/).  This month's challenge is to scrap an outdoor activity.  This is an old photo of my eldest son and it is a view of part of our back garden from before we had our extension.

Kraft it Up August Challenge

The Kraft It Up challenge this month is to do something in your own style and include kraft of course!  I found this funky patterned kraft paper and it goes really well with the colours in this picture of my middle baby.  My style usually includes clean lines and colour.  I also have obsessions with flair buttons and Charm's Creations!

Again I have to apologise for the bad night photo!  And this little monkey is watching me - he has woken up and wants cuddles so I best go and sort him out!

123 August Challenge

The 123 Challenge (http://123-challenge-blog.blogspot.com.au/) this month is:
Colour: Cream
Word: Old
Technique: Vintage

Vintage is definitely way out of my normal style but I have attempted it below.  The photo has a cream back ground plus I have used on of Charm's Creations (http://ourbrightstarsandus.typepad.com/charmscreations/charms-creations/) cream and white mini page runners.  I have used the word old in my journaling.

I am afraid the pictures not the best due to it being the middle of the night!!

White with One August Challenge

I haven't done a White with One (http://whitewith1.blogspot.com.au/) challenge before - I am not sure I am completely happy how this worked out but here it is. August is white with pastels plus masking.  I tried mixing some acrylic paint with the texture paste - it came out pink even though I was trying to get purple ;op. I did like how the journaling looks - that was a new technique for me too!  Today is Poppy's birthday and he had an operation this afternoon so I though a picture of him with his littlest princess would be nice.

Scrap the Girls August Challenge

This month Scrap the Girls (http://scrap-the-girls.blogspot.com.au/) are doing a recipe challenge so each layout must include:
  • masking
  • doodling
  • flowers
  • chipboard
This is my layout:

I have used a mask with texture paste (the first time I have used it!) across the top between the crochet ribbon, I have doodled around to the bottom right of the photo, the title is chipboard that I have lightly inked and there are a bunch of flowers!  Hope you like it!

Show Us Your Stuff August Challenge

Show Us Your Stuff's challenge this month is a sketch challenge and you can see it here- http://showusyourstuff.blogspot.com.au/

And this is my take on it!

It was Bandit's 11th Birthday this week so I made him my subject today.

Scrap the Boys August Challenge

I have already created this layout for the August challenge even though its still the first of the month.  The challenge was to do a monochromatic layout with chipboard and twine. So I picked blue and there is also black, white and kraft - so I hope that still fits within the challenge rules.  Anyway I am loving this layout - hope you do too!

Its been a while

Wow - I can't believe it has been over a year since I last blogged.  So much has happened.  My last post was about hospitals and it ended after my own hospitalisation.  Well I have to say that something good did come out of that - it was rather unexpected but never-the-less a fantastic thing.  I was taken off all medication while I was recovering.  I fell pregnant with our third baby!

We now have a beautiful baby girl who joined our family in January this year.  The boys are completely smitten and smother her in kisses everyday.  Even when she is sleeping.  And they want another baby - so I think its safe to say that they are quite happy with the addition to the family.

DS1 started kindergarten this year and is going well.  I miss him though and really enjoyed having him home over the school holidays.  We didn't do anything big - just movies and bowling and cooking and going to the indoor play centre but it was lovely.  He and his  brother also had two sleep overs with Nanny and Poppy which gave me some one on one time with DD which was great too.

I have to say that I am loving being a mum more each day.  I try to remember everyday to make the most of it as they will grow up too fast and this will all be over.  I savour every cuddle.  I don't mind being woken during night (mind you I am not so good when I am napping during the day). I enjoy all the smiles. I am consciously trying to be less cranky.  Take my time with things whenever possible.  I hope the kids grow up and remember the good fun we have.  I scrap lots - to be able to show them all the fun things we have done and just how much they mean to me.

I am trying to make a better me - I am exercising most everyday and eating a lot better and hope to be around for the kids for a long long time.

I have learnt some pretty big lessons in this last year and will come back to those soon - but for now I should get some rest (I have to remind myself that sleeping is not wasting time).

Sweet dreams

A black and white headshot

I printed this picture of DS2 on regular A4 paper for a change.  I like the way this page has turned out.  The blue contrasts well with the black and white.
